Jack left St. Thomas Tuesday April 6 after receiving his mail, and finishing his chores which included cleaning the bottom again. He has reported a healthy crop of sponges, sea fans, and barnacles underneath his keel and worse, on his folding propeller. His island hopping to Ponce Puerto Rico was uneventful except for the strong wind which for the first time since New York was on his back. The refrigerator is running smoothly again after the controller was ordered from Defender and replaced. The wind generator is giving him problems now, it gets going so fast it tries to self destruct. The new water maker is working well and is attractively installed as promised. Only two weeks until the next leg begins and it will be a long one. We plan on arriving in Panama on May 2, 1999, 9°20' 79°55'. We will be in Puerto Rico until April 23. You can send mail to:
