On Friday, June 23, 2000, I will cross Longitude 106 degrees 14 minutes East and will have made it one half way around the earth starting from Port Washington. This is purely based on degrees longitude and has little to do with actual miles sailed; it will take a lot more figuring to come up with the actual miles. I will be several hundred miles south of Christmas Island and 12 degrees south of the equator, when opposite Port, a long way from home but at least now I am coming back. Elizabeth and Christianne will join me in the Mediterranean where the boat will stay for a few seasons before heading home. It is interesting that based on mileage, this is also very close to the halfway point for this particular leg from New Zealand to the Mediterranean. Celebrating will have to wait until Coccos/Keeling so it can be done with the proper libations. See you soon, Jack
