COME SAIL WITH US

                                        Spring of 2008

STARTING TO TAKE APPLICATIONS!   Island of Abaco in the Bahamas Islands  is a three day, two overnight, sail away. This voyage is totally offshore including crossing the Gulf Stream, transiting a portion of the Sargasso Sea and making landfall on a distant island.  This is not a particularly hard passage and with only two overnight sails, it should appeal to the less interested sailor of a couple.  Spend as much time as you wish in the islands snorkeling in extremely clear water, walking on deserted beaches and shopping for native crafts and either sail back or fly back from  Marsh Harbor.  This is an open ocean adventure but it has the advantage of a vacation with great snorkeling, shopping and island cruising  included making it  a very relaxing time.   Returning flights are inexpensive and frequent.

For those not interested in an ocean sail, consider chartering in the islands and fly both ways.  A yacht and captain to take you and your family or friends to small towns and deserted islands for relaxation and snorkeling.   These trips can be tailored to the wishes of the participants, a lot of sailing, more snorkeling, shopping or just plain relaxing; your trip, your choice. I will try to put people together but get another 1 or 2 couples to come and you can have a private boat and captain to take you wherever you want to go.  Air connections are easy and inexpensive.  Either trip is a GET AWAY FROM IT ALL VACATION.

The reverse passage, spend three days cruising the Abaco Island chain with the usual snorkeling, sunning etc. before heading out into open ocean for a three day ocean trip back to Hilton Head. A complete vacation and sailing experience in six or seven days.

OTHER POSSIBLE TRIPS

WHAT ABOUT A GULF STREAM ADVENTURE?  Sail directly out into the Stream and back all in three days.  Pure sailing  out to the fabled Bermuda Triangle and Sargasso Sea, fish for tuna and Dorado and even have a swim in the warm water if conditions permit.  Lots of sailing in a short time

Beaufort NC,  just South of Cape Hatteras.   This is an offshore sail  that will be out of sight of land most of the way and  involve sailing three days (two overnights) up, spend a day exploring the primer sailing town in the SE before sailing back.  In only six days time you will get considerable sailing and overnight experience, identifying major ship traffic, make landfall at a distant port and do some deep sea fishing on the way. This is an intensive but generally doable cruise, making it very popular.

Join us on a round trip to historic St. Augustine FL. after an overnight ocean sail. Don't want to do an overnight sail? The trip can be modified to include a sleep over stop one or both ways. Augustine FL is only a 36 hour, one overnight trip away and is a fascinating stop where you step back 300 years in American history. Restaurants and shopping abound in this small picturesque town .  Day one would find us sailing out of the Savannah big boat channel and setting a direct offshore course for St. Augustine's arriving at mid day after an overnight sail. We can anchor out with the other cruisers and dinghy in or take a dock at the City Marina. Spend the rest of the day exploring, shopping and a shore side dinner. Step back 300 years in history in this very interesting town Lots of history, restaurants, shopping and even a winery tour make this a most enjoyable stop.  The third day finish exploring the sights and prepare for a departure.

ONLY HAVE A FEW DAYS?     A two day (weekend) trip to St. Catherine's Island GA.  Ocean sailing, offshore fishing, swimming and exploring a deserted beaches.  Even the chance to see a Giraffe or Zebra poke it's head out through the trees.  St. Catherine's is a reserve for many African Plains animals used for research or breeding.

Cost for all trips is between $185 and 195 pppd, and includes all meals on the boat, towels& linens, sailing instruction, safety equipment, captain, boat, fuel and dinghy if we can get enough people.  Only 4-6 sailors on each trip.  Try getting a room with an ocean view and food for that price anywhere else. Trips stopping at a non US port may have some additional Entry/Exit Customs fees added and all sailors will require a valid passport for re entry to the US.  I can send full details on any of these trips if you have any interest in participating but you must send me some feedback now, even if you are just thinking about it. Please put "SAILING" in the Subject Line.

Get a group of 4-6 sailors together and we can go anywhere there is six feet of water.  Boat deliveries and help in sailing your own boat is also available. See the RÉSUMÉ page.

STOP TALKING AND DREAMING,  JUST DO IT, BUT DO IT SOON!  Only 4-6 sailors are taken so trips can fill up fast.
